Te Reo Maori

This term we have an added focus of learning basic Maori.  We need to work at our pronunciation, especially in our greetings and recognising of numbers and colours, and in giving and following instructions.

  2. Te Reo Māori - Lesson 2 Term 2 2020

    Kauapap - Tōku kainga - My home
    Whainga paetae - The student can learn the kupu/words for the kitchen in my home (in te reo māori).



    Pouaka makariri - fridge
    Tēpu kai - dining table
    Tūru - chair
    Kōrere wai - tap/faucet
    Puoto - sink
    Kāpata kai - pantry
    Tūpapa - bench
    Umu - oven
    Ngaru iti - microwave

    Some simple sentences we can use in the kitchen are….

    Kātia te pouaka makariri - Shut the fridge.
    Whakawetongia te umu - Turn off the oven
    Noho ki te tēpu - Sit at the table.
